8" Beeswax Taper Candles

$12.00

Description

Each taper is crafted in Colorado by dipping cotton wick into molten beeswax more than 20 times, building up a balanced candlestick for long, dripless burns. When lit, the raw tapers release a subtle sweet honey aroma — the hallmark of pure beeswax — and burn one hour per inch. They’re as practical as they are beautiful.

  • 8" x 0.875"
  • 100% pure beeswax
  • Free of paraffin, soy or synthetic fragrances.
  • Approx. 8 hour burn time
  • Virtually dripless (keep out of drafts)

A note from the owner of Bluecorn Candles: "In the winter of 1991, my home was a tiny, one-room cabin in Telluride, Colorado. It was there that my friend “Baker” Steve taught me how to dip a beeswax candle. With no electricity, we worked by candlelight, often dipping well into morning. When finished, we could barely move through the cabin while hundreds of still-warm tapers hung from rope strung wall-to-wall. More than three decades later, this legacy of simple, spirited living is at the heart of what we do at Bluecorn. We make candles from clean, natural ingredients — honoring the bees that gather the pollen and create the wax, as well the craftspeople that build our candles with presence and care. In today's all-too-busy world, the act of lighting a flame inspires us to pause, connect and be more mindful — to feel more at peace. It's an opportunity to return to simple."

Care Instructions

These pure beeswax taper candles are designed to be dripless. However, like pillars, any form of draft will cause the candle to drip and burn down much faster.

To prevent dripping, keep away from open windows, fans, or excessive airflow of any kind, and make sure that the candles are set up straight up and down.

Another trick to prevent dripping is to NOT trim the burnt wick before each lighting! The long curled wick that you find should just be lit as is. Please note this is different than all other candle styles. Extinguish and trim the wick if the end of the wick is producing ash.

Use a candle snuffer to extinguish the candle flame mess-free, by removing the oxygen, making sure not to touch the candle or wick with the snuffer, which could weaken the side wall causing it to drip later.
