Fine Gauge Upcycled Cotton Watchcap - Pistachio

$38.00

Description

Super-fine 3/8 cotton-count recycled yarn delivers an exceptionally soft, lightweight feel while giving textile waste a new life. Spinning recycled cotton at such a fine count requires greater technical precision, resulting in a refined yarn that brings a cleaner, more elevated finish to our knitwear.

The watch cap is a style that's existed for well over 100 years, though it's most commonly associated with WWII US Navy personnel. A watch cap is a shorter hat, traditionally meant to be worn folded above the ears. However, we have updated ours to reflect a need to wear it in any way someone prefers. Want to wear it traditionally? Fold it above the ears. Want to wear it like a beanie? Pull it down back behind the ears with a short fold. No fold? We have even put a double-sided label to wear it like a skullcap with no fold!

  • 85% upcycled cotton | 15% RPET
  • Yarn milled in Spain
  • Knit in Waterloo, NY and sewn in Greenpoint, Brooklyn
  • One Size Fits Most
  • Length: 11.5-12 inches (without fold)

Knit cotton is prone to stretch, so if your hat feels a bit tight when you receive it, wearing it will quickly adjust it to your head. If you feel your hat starts to loosen too much over time, you can give it a handwash in warm water or machine wash in cold, lay it flat to dry, and it should spring right back.

Please keep in mind these are half-cardigan knits, meant to retain shape and fit tight!

What is upcycled cotton yarn?

This yarn is a blend of reclaimed cotton fibers from discarded garment scraps combined with a small amount of nylon made from the incredible RPET process of recycling plastic (PET) bottles into nylon fiber. Through a proprietary scrap fabric color matching system, there are no dyes or chemicals used in the process of creating such vibrant colors from what would otherwise be textile waste.

The wide variety of colors to choose from makes it hard to pick just one while providing the perfect complement to any outfit in your wardrobe.
